Context

Members moving through an airport rarely have a free hand for their phone. The CLEAR watchOS app puts the essentials — their next flights, gates, and departure times — on the wrist, so the information they'd otherwise dig for is already there at a glance.

Problem

On travel day, the details that matter most — which flight, which gate, how long until boarding — were locked inside the phone app, requiring members to stop, pull out their device, and navigate. That friction is worst exactly when hands are full and time is short.

Role & Approach

I designed the watchOS experience end to end, deciding what earns a place on a screen that small. The guiding rule: show only what a member needs in the two seconds they'll actually look, and defer everything else to the phone.

Process

I mapped the member's travel-day timeline and pulled out the moments a glance beats a full app session — walking to security, waiting at the gate, boarding. From there I designed a compact flight list and detail view tuned to watchOS's type scale, tap targets, and quick-glance patterns.

User Journey

A member raises their wrist and sees their upcoming flights — LGA to SFO, SFO to JFK — with dates and status. Tapping a flight reveals the details that matter next, without ever opening their phone.

Constraints

Everything had to survive the watch's tiny canvas and glance-length interactions: legible type, generous tap targets, and a hierarchy that answers 'what's next?' before a member even focuses. Data parity with the phone app had to hold without overwhelming the smaller screen.

Summary

The CLEAR watchOS app distills travel day to what a member needs on their wrist — next flights, gates, and timing — so the most time-sensitive information is available without breaking stride.

Next Steps

Live and iterating. Next up: watch-face complications that surface the next flight straight from the clock face, and richer real-time checkpoint status on the wrist.
